Press 'ZL' and 'ZR' on the Nintendo Switch controller to pan through their memories. Once you found someone with the blue bubbles over their heads, click on them ('A' on the Nintendo Switch controller) to use your special powers to view their memories. You'll know a person with a memory is in the area if the '?' to the left of your screen appear larger than the rest.

Pan around the island until you see a person with blue bubbles above their heads. In every new location you visit, you must first uncover memories from the people living there, who will uncover more information about the Guardian living on that island. Eventually, you'll find the dog collar, which will lead you to the next section of the game, The Lighthouse.ДЄfter your trip to the Museum, you will go on a journey to 6 different locations where you will find Guardians of Shelmerston Island, their memories, and their mementos.ДЇor a thorough walkthrough of these locations, visit the Map Locations page for a thorough walkthrough of each location. Peer into the dog urn sitting on the shelf to your left and lock on to it. That melody will get stuck in your head for days.Your first task is to find Sparky. The soundtrack is decent, albeit somewhat forgettable with the exception of the tune that plays whenever you discover a memento. Some of the performances are good, like David ShaughnessyвЂ™s portrayal of sweet Morris Lupton, but many others are downright cringeworthy. The voice acting on the other hand is another matter. There are neat details with the sound effects when youвЂ™re zooming in and out, such as soft textures sounding squishy and liquids having bubbling and gurgling sounds. Which leads me to I Am DeadвЂs sound design. The character designs suffer from this as well, so they have to rely on the vocal performances to sell the emotion being conveyed. ItвЂ™s hard to find what youвЂ™re looking for in a sea of nondescript shapes. I understand that they werenвЂ™t going for realism, but the rudimentary graphics make many of the objects look like colorful blobs. I Am Dead is not a good looking game by any means.

Whitstable provides the only real challenge in I Am Dead, in the form of Riddles.ДЇinding the objects can be difficult at times, not necessarily because theyвЂ™re well hidden, but rather that itвЂ™s not always clear what youвЂ™re looking at. Each personвЂ™s special memento is hidden somewhere in the small section they occupy, so there isnвЂ™t much of a challenge there. YouвЂ™ll have to click on various objects to inspect them, then zoom in and out to use MorrisвЂ™s X-ray ability to see through them and hopefully find the missing item. Morris has a special ability in death that allows him to вЂњsliceвЂќ through objects to see through their layers. This is where the bulk of the gameplay comes in. As I mentioned earlier, youвЂ™ll have to find mementos that have have special meaning to those whose memories youвЂ™ve seen. Most of them are surface-level fluff though.ДЄlthough, I Am Dead isnвЂ™t only about listening to peopleвЂ™s memories. TheyвЂ™re not all fascinating glimpses into real-world issues, but enough of them were to give I Am Dead a measure of insightful depth. The memories also touch on a surprising amount of deeper themes, such as regret, misunderstanding, animal rights, and loss. I Am Dead captures the feel of a small seaside town very well, with many of the denizens connecting to one another in some way. Still, hearing the memories about the deceased and the island itself do make the fictional town of Shelmerston feel more genuine. Sparky can herd the spiritвЂ™s essence and bind it them, bringing about their corporeal body.
